  PETROM-OMV

Bucharest, Romania

After designing and constructing the current headquarters for Petrom-OMV, the largest oil company in Romania, the MRA team was invited to participate in a competition for environmental branding for their new headquarters, Petrom City, located in Bucharest, Romania.

The initial concept for the branding was inspired by Petrom’s corporate identity along with the unique architecture of their new headquarters. Our vision was to integrate a unified visual image that could be applied to several design components, which included an orientation system, information system, corporate information system, interior landscape design, exterior landscape design, and a furniture layout.

The orientation system used a graphic created to help guide the occupants from the core of the building to the various departments of Petrom. Through the use of texture and multiple colored lines, each department could be easily identified.

The information system used a similar graphic to provide necessary information about the orientation system. This graphic would be used in the reception areas, the main building lobby, and the building cores.

The corporate information system was a graphic derived from the graphic used for the orientation system. It was used in a variety of locations and surfaces. Additionally, the graphics purpose was to capture the essence of Petrom by integrating words and inspirational phrases.

Within the reception areas and the main building lobby, vegetational elements were used for the interior landscape to connect with the outdoor environment. Small green accents were also used throughout the entire building complex.

The exterior landscape used a mix of horizontal and vertical green surfaces, which generated a sense of fluidity throughout the complex.

Our furniture layout consisted of sleek, modern furniture that enabled a continuous flow of movement within each space.

This complex challenge required a skillful team, which included Mucca Design, Pentagram, and Blaurock & Storch.
